How to repair a damaged PDF

Questions
What can repair actually fix?
Structural damage: a broken cross-reference table, a truncated index, damaged object streams, orphaned objects. That covers most files that fail with “cannot find Root object” or open blank.
What can it not fix?
Missing bytes. If a download stopped halfway or a disk lost a sector, the page content is gone and no tool can invent it. When that happens this one says so instead of giving you a plausible-looking file with empty pages.
Will the pages look different afterwards?
No. The rewrite is lossless — nothing is re-encoded, no image is recompressed and no font is dropped. Only the structure around the content changes.
Is it safe to send a confidential file here?
Nothing is sent. The repair runs on your own processor in this tab, so a damaged contract or medical record never leaves your device. Open your browser’s network panel and watch.
